I found the simple life ain’t so simple
When I jumped out on that road
I got no love, just Flomm in Korea
Ain’t got nobody waiting at home
—Lyrics by David Lee Roth, kinda, sorta-ish
This past spring, I was honoured to have a square piece of flomm quietly make an appearance at the 2015 Korea Society of Basic Design & Art Spring Invitational Exhibition. The exhibit’s theme was Basic Design, Art, and Humanism.
Titled Flommist Composition No67: Ete! – this abstract collage was made from typography, found objects and photography. Included were candids of flommists Rikki Morehouse and BAMR.
The concept reflects current events – and is my commentary on how human suffering is rationalized by The Powers That Be.
In going forward with Flomm as a ‘media art project,’ this was the first new piece of flommist artwork to appear outside of the game. My plan is to create more squares to complete a series.
The 2015 KSBDA International Spring Exhibition was held from the 30 May thru 3 June 2015 at the University of Seoul in Korea. Exhibited were 479 works from 15 countries.
Huge thanks to Chang Kim for the gracious invitation.
