“I cannot believe the work you’ve done in less than three days”
—random text, last thursday
All I could really say is it’s wat we do.
And I could say mor.
Well, I did.
One of the most common things I hear from my former graphic design students is how fast things have to happen when they end up working professionally.
And since my background includes graphic design for deadline-driven newspapers and magazines, it was yeah, we could throw together a last minute educational something for the DADA Dancehall.
It’s wat we do.
For this event, our task was to pull together some historical DADAist-related films to (sometimes) sync with the live performances put on by Norcal Noisefest, and throw together a HOW TO DADA brochure – text generated by ChatGPT, which seemed so DADA – that after the event people may or may not read.
Cause learning really only happens if self initiated.
Here’s a PDF if you’d want to DADA yourself.
We gave out around 300 of these things, so — there may be some nü DADAists – AND flommists – floating around Sacramento this week. Or not.
Never Board got a large batch of DADA/FLOMM stickers to us in record time, first chance I’ve had to demo a remix’d DADA/FLOMM font I’ve been working on.
Everybuddy has jobs right now – in our 3 day rush, our line up of volunteer flommists changed by the hour – many thanks to our group that made it out on Thursday.
And thanks to Amanda Maurer and Nema Lorestany for running to the OTHER side of the museum where the large DANCE spectacle had the largest crowds AND handing out collateral so our ballroom takeover could be found.
Crowds shuffled in as large batches.
NOISES either kept em or scared them off.
DADA!
Norcal Noisefest’s Denise Chelini brought us all into the fold and did an amazing job getting performers and all of us together. The next thing for her is Sacramento Audio Waffle this Sunday 19 March at the Red Museum. Live stream here.
Cheers to the Crocker Art Museum’s Eben Burgoon for taking ArtMix to a whole other place last week.
A bunch of flommists say we have to do MOR like this now and again.
So we will.
