We as queer adults love slob­ber­ing on Car­toon Network’s knob for hav­ing LGBTQ char­ac­ters and ro­mances, and we down­load and watch episodes hunky dory.

Mean­while
these shows get moved to late night and ear­ly morn­ing time slots where they are in­ac­ces­si­ble to the kids who NEED to see them­selves, and we don’t ever say shit.

Steven Uni­verse is played week­days at SIX AM for fucks sake, and it goes whol­ly undis­cussed. Not even de­fend­ed. Un­no­ticed.

It both­ers me! It’s all the feel good about mak­ing queer pro­gram with­out any of the mid­dle fin­ger to ho­mo­phobes and ul­ti­mate­ly with a di­lut­ed, if not elim­i­nat­ed, im­pact on who it fuck­ing ex­ists for.
