I don’t know if people are gonna love this take but …
We as queer adults love slobbering on Cartoon Network’s knob for having LGBTQ characters and romances, and we download and watch episodes hunky dory.
Meanwhile
these shows get moved to late night and early morning time slots where they are inaccessible to the kids who NEED to see themselves, and we don’t ever say shit.
Steven Universe is played weekdays at SIX AM for fucks sake, and it goes wholly undiscussed. Not even defended. Unnoticed.
It bothers me! It’s all the feel good about making queer program without any of the middle finger to homophobes and ultimately with a diluted, if not eliminated, impact on who it fucking exists for.
