better than thou

I have said it be­fore, I will say it again:

It is al­ways the scold,
the pub­lic pu­ri­tan,
the pi­ous cul­ture war­rior,
the de­vot­ed prude that ends up be­ing the sex­u­al de­viant.

It’s true for re­li­gious lead­ers,
it’s true for “fam­i­ly man” celebri­ties,
and it’s true for Re­pub­li­can politi­cians.

No one should be sur­prised Hastert was in­dict­ed for rap­ing lit­tle boys.

Any­one that ob­sessed with pe­dophil­ia that they project it where it does­n’t ex­ist (say, gay mar­riage or trans­gen­der bath­room rights) has some deep­er is­sues.

I feel ter­ri­ble for his vic­tims, I just hope they see jus­tice in our sys­tem where those with “af­fluen­za” are im­mune.
