I hope every­one in the US who had a mo­ment to take part in the to­tal so­lar eclipse did.

I hope you got your glass­es or you made your box­es. Or you ran out with a colan­der cast­ing its dot­ted shad­ow to the ground. I hope that even if you were stuck in an of­fice you used the END­LESS TECH­NOL­O­GY at your fin­ger­tips to watch a stream.

I hope you took part in an ex­pe­ri­ence, how­ev­er small it was where you were lo­cat­ed. Not be­cause it was a fad.

Not be­cause me­dia has been thrust­ing it down every­one’s throats for the last cou­ple weeks.

Be­cause this was a beau­ti­ful, tiny in­stance where the Uni­verse re­mind­ed us that we are small. We are in­signif­i­cant in the vast size and quan­ti­ty of the ever ex­pan­sion and trans­ac­tion of cos­mic en­er­gy.

That the same stuff were are made of, lit­er­al­ly ex­ists out­side our own world and cre­ates some­thing we, as tiny specs, de­fine as a Ce­les­tial event.

I hope you saw this and you felt small. Not in a weak way, but in a free­ing, in­spired leap for joy.

I hope you ex­pe­ri­enced this so that years from now you can re­flect and pull from a won­der­ful and beau­ti­ful mem­o­ry. That for a small mo­ment, you felt the awe of the cos­mos and it filled you with cu­rios­i­ty and joy.
