“You are already very successful. What more could you want?” I asked famous actor, Kevin Scott Brown.
“Yes, but I wish I could do more.” he said.
“What is it you wish you were doing?”
“Changing the English language. Imagine being able to say something so great, and that people love so much, that they start adopting your made-up words, until it’s just fact. It changes history. I want to matter that much.”
“While I think those people are needed,” I said, “I don’t think they are appreciated. We are all changing language, and history, in smaller, slower increments, and I think we should do our best to make sure that doesn’t all go to hell … but in the age of micro-blogging, someone like Shakespeare would have to keep his day job.”
“That is the problem!” he insisted. “We’ll never have anymore people like that if that’s how everyone thinks! And that is a damn shame.”
And then I woke up. It seemed like a worthy discussion though.
