a bit of difference

I had a won­der­ful dream,
about be­ing able to walk around out­side and go on reg­u­lar dates again.

Af­ter run­ning into mul­ti­ple,
stark­ly dif­fer­ent ver­sions of my friends,
it be­came ap­par­ent that the place we were in was a sort of in­ter­di­men­sion­al sanc­tu­ary, ac­cept­ing refugees from all of the dark­est time­lines.

I was as­sured that while it can be awk­ward,
run­ning into your­self doesn’t cause any sort of para­dox,
pro­vid­ed that you’re not trav­el­ing through time, or try­ing to co­ex­ist in one of the orig­i­nal di­men­sions where ei­ther of you hail from.

Af­ter wak­ing up and re­al­iz­ing the world is still a hellscape,
I went back to sleep for most of the day.
