I’ve been say­ing this for years but c’mon. It’s al­most car­toon evil at this point.

I got into Burt Bacharach (1928–2023) in the late 90s. 

He and his brand of or­ches­tral, al­most baroque pop was hav­ing a mo­ment at the time, el­e­vat­ed by a younger gen­er­a­tion like Ben Folds and Elvis Costel­lo singing his prais­es and cov­er­ing his work. 

I saw him play with Elvis at the Chica­go The­ater on their Paint­ed from Mem­o­ry tour and was for­tu­nate to meet both of them that night. Dude was warm and gra­cious and clear­ly thrilled to be hav­ing a sec­ond act. 

RIP leg­end. You had a hell of a run.
