I eat a plant-based diet.
And here is a reenactment of a conversation I have at least once a month:
them:
“Do you want to eat at steakhouse/burger place/rib shack?” (the literal only places I really can’t eat)
me:
“They aren’t that veggie-friendly, but go if you want to eat there, I can just grab something from somewhere else.”
them:
“But they have salads.”
me:
“Salads aren’t a meal, they are a side.”
them:
“But you’re a vegetarian!”
me:
“And – ?”
them:
“Don’t you eat mostly salads?”
me:
“God no, I just don’t eat meat.”
them:
“So if you don’t eat salads, what do you eat?”
me:
“Literally anything that isn’t meat.”
them:
“But that’s all they have without meat.”
me:
“Yep.”
them:
“So what can you eat?”
me:
“There? A salad.”
them:
“But I thought you said you didn’t want a salad.”
me:
“Yes, bringing us back to, that’s not a restaurant I would eat at because the only veggie-friendly thing they have is a salad.”
them:
“Oh so then what are you going to eat?”
me:
“Something from a different restaurant.”
