firearms

To my Left fam,
I probably just sound like another conservative nut mindlessly rabbling “Don’t let ’em take our guns!”

whereas

With my Right fam,
I’m that overly idealistic hippie who wants to disarm the police.

So just to clarify:
I think firearms of every kind are terrible and if I could wave a wand and make all of them disappear I would.

Maybe.

BUT here is the thing:
The government has no wands, and … isn’t that good at its job. You have to imagine how half assed any serious measure is actually going to be executed in practice, which means regardless of what is actually allowed, the guns are here to stay. They are a part of our ecosystem for as long as the ammunition is being manufactured.

I am not against increasing certain restrictions, especially in states with very loose regulation. Ultimately though, the point of my conspiracy rantings to this end is: Citizens and law enforcement should be the SAME level of armed (or unarmed). The second amendment was not about hunting or the calibre of weaponry at the time. It was about making the government fear the people in order to keep its authority in check.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Militias are targeted by federal law enforcement as terrorist groups, and the FBI has a documented history of pinning crimes on activist groups that pose a threat to authority. So if you’re worried that keeping the second amendment in the U.S. Constitution will accidentally grant anyone the right that is promised therein?

Don’t.

We’re already living in a nightmare dystopia. Everything is fine.

Tho honestly,
I don’t think it would be the worst if we all were able to have a little bit of defensive combat training.

Sometime after having survived a shooting, I fell down a whole instructional YouTube rabbit hole about how to disarm a gunman with Wing Chun

I want to believe.
