The funny thing about long-tail trends is that they tend to be influenced by things that aren’t initially successful. But those things reach the kind of taste making cool people that make the decisions that then cascade down through the culture.
Two perfect examples: Almost Famous (2000) and Wet Hot American Summer (2001). Two films that came out within a year of each other and did like *no* business, but their influence draped longer over the next decade plus.
Anyway, that’s why everyone’s doing heroin now.
Also,
It’s telling that Far Left purity tests don’t have much of a place for the interests of women or Gay people or PoC or any number of other vulnerable classes.
I might posit that it has to do with so many purity-seeking Far Left types being straight white bros but to do so causes tons of straight white bros to loudly protest that that’s not the case so I guess that’s that, huh.
Locally though,
I think with discipline and a little elbow grease we could be back on top next year.
