THE BATTLE FOR MODeRN 1923

Beyond pissed right now. And this rant is in no way my entire outlook.

I’m not looking for sage advice. I need to vent.

Went into bank to get a credit card changed at the beginning of the month. I have one that I don’t use because it doesn’t have any benefits and is tiny. Wanted to switch it over to a travel card for my upcoming international trip.

The bank’s credit division said it would hurt my credit less if I opened a NEW card and then merged the old card into the new card.

So I say ok. Let’s do that.

My credit score dropped 20 points and the old tiny card? The bank reduced the credit line by nearly half.

So I’m pissed already. I go into the bank to take care of the merger.

The head of the bank, not my rep, warns me that by merging an old card into a new card, my credit score will take a significant hit. And I’m here, before this fucking new card with a credit score that WAS in the excellent range turned to ‘very good.’

And the bank rep I set this card up with had no idea. Then starts saying they can’t offer advice on credit things and it always must be my decision.

So I decide to call the bank’s credit division to find out how much more this will hurt. At their desk, in the bank. Because I don’t want or have any need for three fucking credit cards. But closing my oldest accounts may cause an even worse hit?!

To which THEY say, it ‘may’ but cannot give anymore information. But explain it creates another credit request. And they aren’t at liberty to advise anything and gives me the phone number to Experian to speak with their representative.

So I call. And ten minutes of ‘promotional’ ads later I’m directed to call a DIFFERENT number.

Which takes me to Colorado, and straight to fucking 411.

I’m done.

I fucking hate banks and these POS institutions. I just didn’t want to deal with your bullshit overseas transaction fees. I should’ve just taken my credit unions advice. Fucking A…

This is also why all my savings is at a fucking credit union and NOT a large national bank.

Pieces of shit, every last one of em.
