With a fake art movement (that’s become something else along the way) we needed not only a manifesto – but also a founding date.
Because art movements. Because art history. Because Spinal Tap.
To complete the story of FLOMM, I selected a founding date that is a bit personal.
28 JULY 1923
– which is my father’s birthday.
1923 was a huge year for modernism, and it just happens my dad was born (on the kitchen table in a small house in the coal mining town of West Hazleton, Pennsylvania) the same month the 1923 BAUHAUS exhibition was taking place.
To celebrate my dad’s birthday – as well as this little FLOMM thing we have going – I’ve decided to issue a commemorative U.S. Postage stamp every year on 28 July.
This year’s edition features a new DADA-inspired FLOMMIST font I’ve been working on (I’ll have MOR details as I finish drawing the rest of the letters).
ORDER the FLOMM 93rd anniversary U.S. postage stamp here.
Only available thru end of 2016.
