About the safety pins:
This article makes grest points but it also marginalizes average people.
Because
I don’t see it as this person is a protector.
I see it as this person won’t turn and grab my pussy,
And won’t be a wild card when I sit on the subway seat next to them.
The safety pin is not meant to be a badge, a sign that you are a superhero.
And I feel everyone involved in protesting this president will need to be mentally prepared for the worst
but you don’t need to have Napoleon Dynamite ‘skills’ to wear a pin in solidarity.
Sometimes safety in numbers can be enough to frighten that solo racist fuck who is screaming on the sidewalk.
