“The battle is for popular culture. They want it on your tv screens, on your movie screens, in your music, in your advertising, in your school textbooks your children read. IN YOUR FACE … Modern art is complete bullshit … It’s not art, it’s politicized indoctrination, it’s weaponized culture … we need to reject it in all its vulgar forms before it succeeds in ruining absolutely everything.” —Paul Joseph Watson, from Why Modern Art is Absolute Crap 30 March 2017
I just watched this video on Infowars (below) where this guy rants about how modern art is dead because it always filters through a political or social lense.
Maybe he missed most of art history because pretty much most art or art movements were created out of protest.
That’s not a modern concept at all.
And, he’s actually condemning ‘contemporary art,’ not ‘modern art.’ There IS a difference.
Watch it if you can get through it. Slightly thought-provoking but mostly idiotic, nothing new here by way of argument.
We are living in such a strange time and I am really trying to make sense of it. People are very closed-minded. Not nearly patient enough to see past their own noses. Or their own rhetoric.
