“Last night was one for the history books, there will be tales of this place called ‘Blue Lamp’ and the ‘Drunk Poetry’ event that was held there. Thank you to Andru Defeye & April Walker for hosting if not the only, the best interactive poetry/live game show. We had a good run!”

It’s been a wild one, man.
Of all the events that I’ve ever come up with Drunk Poetry is my favorite.
But it turned into something I never planned it to be. This weird little space where the city’s frontline activists come to kick a couple back and laugh, where poets who fight the world’s darkness on a daily are able to lighten up and laugh with themselves.
Where old white women from Roseville have their first conversation ever with a black trans homie about which dirty rap song to perform.
We talk a lot about tribe in the backyard. Thursday night I felt all of y’all. Keep doing your work. We’ll keep doing ours to create spaces to come together, dance, laugh, and love.
I’m proud of us.
(Also I’m glad some of y’all got to see me throw a shoe at someone on stage so you realize it’s not an idle threat when I say it.)
Also, when lil’ sis makes her own card deck and you get the first one. Holler at SpaceWalker today to get yours.
And we got a Halloween tradition around here.
Come celebrate our favorite holiday with the tribe at Harlow’s. October 31.
Halloween costumes and/or intergalactic attire are encouraged but not demanded.
