musings from the bathtub
Well, it’s been a while. Been showers only.
I was musing about so-called Patriots that refused to be told what to do, that yell, “We’re Americans! This is a free country and we can do whatever we want!”
Which yes, that is very true, within reason.
What piques my curiosity is all the veterans and soldiers that were drafted or enlisted into a military regime where they’re stripped of their identity, vaccinated with multiple vaccinations at once, given a gun, taught how to kill, and told what to do every waking moment of every day of every month of every year of their service, and they blindly go about doing it because as a friend of mine told me, “It’s different [than civilian life].”
He’s right, it is different. As a civilian you are ‘asked’ to be a good citizen, a responsible citizen, a well-behaved citizen. Your input is actually required to help run a society, i.e. voting.
Many things are mandated that usually have to do with the safety of yourself and other citizens – and even those mandates can be brought up voted on, and changed.
In the military, there’s no vote. There’s no democracy. There’s only do what we tell you or you are dishonorably discharged, thrown in prison, or put to death.
So it fascinates me that the far right aligns itself so much with the military without realizing that when you’re in the military you have no rights, you have nothing except the clothing they force you to wear and your time isn’t even yours.
In fact, you don’t even have you.
