How the week started
The jungle waking up
Mystical/Magical if that doesn’t come through
And no, that’s not a honking van
Anyone know what animal makes that sound?
Before, there was an epic night bus rainforest journey. Best travel juju.
I also like this picture because when I was 8 and in Mexico for the summer with my family, I fell in love with a balloon. King. Pink with black polkadots. My sister and I (forever with King) spent long happy evenings in the zocalo of Guanajuato, dancing not too far away, throwing new coins into a fountain. Kids and balloons and the last light of evening.
I have to say my favorite thing about Guatemala was seeing kids out – everywhere. Playing in the normal way we used to play. Sometimes selling peanuts or gadgets. Sometimes with family or friends. Outside with people of all ages, past dark even. A feeling of communal safety and a gentle, public living of life. One little person more beautiful than the next.
I don’t even want to go outside and not see them.
Grateful in Guatemala
Sorry to leave this kind country
Beautiful faces everywhere
