Still at home? Got some down time? Good.
Do this: Keep pen and paper handy and rewatch a couple of your favorite movies.
Write down a few notes about what you really love above each movie and why you love it.
Research the director or writers and then watch a few more from that production circle.
Really study your own faves and work on understanding what it is you enjoy about them so you can continue to pursue that vein of creativity.
Then make something.
Anything. Scribble. Sketch. Does your wardrobe match any of the films? Change an accessory. Then imagine new colors for a room.
Wash your face. Think about water and where it comes from.
Order a food item based on something you saw.
Write a note. Write a poem. Take some photos.
Ponder your scribbles, notes, wet face.
Prune some plants. Add a new flavour to a leftover food dish you didn’t quite like and see if it helps. Make it bitter – so you’ll be hungry when your food arrives.
Eat, clean up and then take out the garbage and look around. How does it feel? What do you hear? What is the weather like?
Go in and make something about that. Shoot a video of whatever you just did.
Post to social media something from all of this no matter what form it is. Tag it with #FlommDare
Ignore the sarcastic comments you’ll get. Or maybe you’ll get nothing at all. Then –
Repeat.
Always.
