Last night I got to wit­ness some real cre­ative mag­ick.

Nat­achi Mez’s Fire: Breath­ing in the Wild – A Night of Live Mu­sic and Po­et­ry was one of the most elec­tric, soul stir­ring pieces of art I’ve seen in years.

The all Black femme crew put on a show that I would have glad­ly paid top dol­lar for off Broad­way in New York. I re­al­ly hope Sacramento’s large the­aters book this show so more of the com­mu­ni­ty can see it.

Tru­ly mag­i­cal. The cast, the mu­sic, the po­et­ry, the en­er­gy … just every­thing. A pow­er­house per­for­mance un­like any I’ve ever seen in our city.

Some­one PLEASE book them so I can go see it again and bring all of you with me.

Well done Nat­achi Mez, Nicole Gen­try, Di­a­mond Key, Q, Beti Gir­ma, Lau­ra MmaM­ma Lau­ra Cook, Jeanette Rowe, the fire breather on wood­winds who’s name I didn’t catch, and every­one in­volved in mak­ing that mag­ick hap­pen.

I left so in­spired. I wan­na be like y’all when I grow up.
