Last night I got to witness some real creative magick.
Natachi Mez’s Fire: Breathing in the Wild – A Night of Live Music and Poetry was one of the most electric, soul stirring pieces of art I’ve seen in years.
The all Black femme crew put on a show that I would have gladly paid top dollar for off Broadway in New York. I really hope Sacramento’s large theaters book this show so more of the community can see it.
Truly magical. The cast, the music, the poetry, the energy … just everything. A powerhouse performance unlike any I’ve ever seen in our city.
Someone PLEASE book them so I can go see it again and bring all of you with me.
Well done Natachi Mez, Nicole Gentry, Diamond Key, Q, Beti Girma, Laura MmaMma Laura Cook, Jeanette Rowe, the fire breather on woodwinds who’s name I didn’t catch, and everyone involved in making that magick happen.
I left so inspired. I wanna be like y’all when I grow up.
