For most – it ap­pears from over here, not be­ing a moth­er – hav­ing chil­dren is a unique and won­der­ful ex­pe­ri­ence.

If you be­lieve it makes you more of a woman, or more of a per­son, cool.

But maybe con­sid­er how you present this to ac­quain­tances and col­leagues.

Un­less they’ve told you, you don’t know why oth­er adults around you don’t have chil­dren. And all And all rea­sons for not hav­ing chil­dren are valid.

Over the last two years of teach­ing, I’ve heard peo­ple share that be­ing a moth­er makes them a bet­ter ed­u­ca­tor. I don’t doubt that this is true for those that have said it.

At the same time, be­ing a par­ent doesn’t sud­den­ly make every­one a good ed­u­ca­tor.

Also, not all of our stu­dents will have chil­dren, it is not a bad thing that they have teach­ers that don’t have chil­dren.
