election year just got real, or have we seen this all before?

Ap­point­ing a cop as your Vice Pres­i­dent while the left has spent the sum­mer open­ly protest­ing po­lice bru­tal­i­ty and cor­rup­tion is such an “eat shit fuck­ers” move.

See­ing elec­tions as a sit­u­a­tion where you must act con­ser­v­a­tive­ly, and then you must spend the non-elec­tion time act­ing rad­i­cal­ly, does not work if you and peo­ple like you are not or­ga­niz­ing in the off times.

Es­pe­cial­ly when you’ve his­tor­i­cal­ly aban­doned pol­i­tics when a De­mo­c­rat has been at the helm, do­ing noth­ing but com­pro­mis­ing with the devil.

“Oh but Mel­ony, Trump is unprecedented …”

No, he’s not.

He’s the next step of Bush Jr, who was the next step of Bush Sr, who was the next step of Reagan.

The fact that so many of you don’t see it alarms me. You’ve been LIT­ER­AL­LY ALIVE FOR IT.

The fact that you saw Bush em­bar­rass us lo­cal­ly and in­ter­na­tion­al­ly with his fla­grant stu­pid­i­ty while trig­ger­ing end­less wars, that you saw him have shoes thrown at his head and read a children’s book up­side down, that he nor­mal­ized a lev­el of ex­is­tence that en­abled some­one like Trump, who is dumb­er and vil­er, and now you just think he’s some cute old man who paints cats??

It makes me think that should Biden be elect­ed, you will once again not or­ga­nize in the off times, and then be some­how shocked when the step af­ter Trump comes.

“Oh Mel­ony, what have you even done to have the au­thor­i­ty to lec­ture me?”

I was po­lit­i­cal­ly ac­tive in the Oba­ma era. My gay self was on edge from the start when he was cam­paign­ing in ’08 with “mar­riage is be­tween a man and a woman.” And then Cal­i­for­nia agreed with him.

I marched in the street, I or­ga­nized and at­tend­ed se­cret ed­u­ca­tion­al meet­ings at ac­tivists’ hous­es, I made it my job every­where I went to fa­cil­i­tate queer space and to make those spaces as safe as I could. It only slowed so hard in the Trump years be­cause my health and san­i­ty had to come first. And I STILL made at­tempts to make queer space where I was. And I STILL try to ed­u­cate peo­ple, and myself.

Don’t beat oth­ers over the head with how they should vote and how more Trump will be their fault, not when the al­ter­na­tive giv­en has been such an open slap in the face to MANY peo­ple who have been on the ground floor, or even re­mote­ly pay­ing at­ten­tion the whole time.

Pre­pare for more Trump, com­mit to­day to what you’re gonna do in that event, and then be pre­pared to DO IT ANY­WAY. Or, be hon­est that all you’re go­ing to do is fill your bub­bles and go home, and make the rad­i­cal choice.
