My heart has been breaking and I haven’t known how to handle it.
It’s 20 friggin 20 and we’re still battling with human beings that have a problem with the color of a person’s skin and a nation that continues to tear us apart.
And in all this, I let myself get discouraged by those that don’t see a problem with police brutality against blacks and racism that is still happening.
I had to find a way to shift into the message of what is being created in this very moment.
I came to the point that it’s okay to sit in this pain. I needed to watch the documentaries that make me uncomfortable. I needed to have the uncomfortable conversations with others.
Thanks to the support of my sister, I was able to find motivation.
In early June – in downtown Sacramento – we did a thing thanks to @boardsforchange and put our messages out to the community.
This is the Google street view just before we started.
We ended up with space on either side of the iconic
“EVERY DAY
IS YOUR CHANCE …”
message of flommist Alex Trujillo.
“Absolutely gutted, lit·er·al·ly. But …☝🏽absolutely GRATEFUL to have experienced and influenced, than not. 😊 The EVERY DAY sign rode for almost 10 years in this location and the building has now been demo’d. As the city embarks change at these times, so do we. WE, are just getting started …”

All was on 15th between J & K and it’s already been taken down 😕.
Art is often temporary. And not every piece will survive, but ideas can last a lot longer.
I hope we can find a way to rise above the hate, the anger, the pain and learn to love one another, no matter the color of your skin.
