Please
let this moment tip the scales.
Please
let this moment be the height of any divine purpose or good that social media can have or do for humanity.
Please
let the groundswell of anti-racism newcomers make lip-service quantifiable at institutional, governmental, social, economic and cultural levels, on all levels, and in every dimension of our lives, and let us join the legacy of those who came before us to lay the groundwork.
Please
let us discover our covert biases and remediate them with actionable amends.
Please
let our work relieve those who have suffered so the living may too rest in peace.
Please
let Hollywood and coastal liberals stop marginalizing/accusing/blaming the South and southerners for racism and instead mind their own goddamn selves.
Please
let rage and trauma be understood and acknowledged on a scale so profound that defenses, comebacks, and judgements vanish and we say instead, I see you, I believe you, I hear you.
Please
let white people help themselves to history books, novels, biographies, films, music, art, opinions, and other forms of expression and work made by people outside their bubbles.
Please
let us correct textbooks, the prison industrial complex, chronic disease divided along racial lines, food access disparity, and deconstruct the myth of the white body as standard.
Please
let us heal the damage that’s been done so this generation of our nation’s babies feels natural and inalienable permission to express themselves without fear.
Please
let this moment lead our nation into a new era of desegregation.
Please
get Trump the fuck out of here because he’s neither the real problem nor part of the solution. The problem is 400+ years old.
Please
let America’s future be guided by the genius, wisdom, strength, creativity, innovation, and love that is born, bred, and resides here in our diverse people.
I will be praying,
and by praying I mean embodying my values, working everyday to my best ability to apply my values in the world and serve the greater good of all people and all living beings.
