2022 has been a crazy year

and upon finishing up grading student works last week, I set out to craft a brand nü last-minute FLOMM calendar celebrating our 100th anniversary, tied in to MY FATHER’S BDAY in 1923, same time as THE ORIGINAL BAUHAUS EXHIBITION.

I gave myself ONE WEEK to create something challenging – to get me out of teaching mode – of course, inspired by the past, but I set out to be a bit different than other FLOMM materials.

WAT could I do in ABOUTWEEK?

I started with DE STIJL, threw in some BAUHAUS and ended up bouncing around the WEIMAR REPUBLIC channeling some pre-Hitler-banned GERMAN EXPRESSIONISM, with a subtle add of some faded WWII photography I recently found of MY DAD doing his NAVIGATOR thing.

Navigating through dates I decided to turn around a bit – months are duplicated (layered) and JANUARY is near the bottom.

I’d noticed a lot of repetitive patterns appear when typesetting a calendar; this year, FEBRUARY, MARCH and NOVEMBER have (mostly) the same days. Turns out, a 2017 calendar can be reused for 2023 – tho it would be too easy to just reprint the FLOMM ’17 calendar.

SO OUR 2023 limited edition is for anyone who doesn’t have a calendar up yet.

And it’s for JON BUCK who asked me wat I’m doing for art these days and I responded with “when I have time, I’m making our home livable, my workspace comfortable and throwing together a last minute FLOMM calendar just in time for watching the tape delay ball drop on the tee vee.”

ORDER YOUR OWN NOW thru FLOMMHAUS !!

Your dollar supports us so we can continue to do weird challenges like this one.

UP NEXT, an actual RADíO FLoMM —
