To my Black friends,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.
To my His­pan­ic friends,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.
To my Na­tive Amer­i­can friends,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.
To my Asian friends,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.
To my Chris­t­ian friends,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.
To my Mus­lim friends,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.
To my Jew­ish friends,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.
To my Bud­dhist friends,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.
To any of my friends I didn’t men­tion,
I am so sor­ry there is so much hate aimed at you.

Yes, there will al­ways be at­tacks. As long as hu­mans hate each oth­er be­cause of dif­fer­ences.

It’s not about re­li­gion, or sex­u­al ori­en­ta­tion, or race, or gen­der. It’s about hate.

It’s about hat­ing that oth­er dri­ver who cut you off or drove like an id­iot, which is us some­times.

It’s about hat­ing the per­son who cut in front of you in line.

It’s about hat­ing that “bitch on the cell phone talk­ing so loud.”

“Hate,” how many times do we all say it each and every day?

It’s about our own in­abil­i­ty to un­der­stand the oth­er per­son, to have com­pas­sion – em­pa­thy – for the oth­er per­son.

To BE the oth­er per­son.
