shops: the nü art spaces

What is your fa­vorite brand mak­ing you feel to­day?

These days, brands are pay­ing at­ten­tion to feel­ings and it’s be­come a trend.

And while com­pa­nies like Nike con­tin­ue to use needs, mo­ti­va­tion and en­cour­age­ment as their strat­e­gy, more fash­ion and beau­ty ori­ent­ed or­ga­ni­za­tions have come up with some­thing dif­fer­ent … artis­tic at­mos­phere.

Now, amongst the largest bou­tiques, shop­ping ap­pears not just as an act of con­sumerism, but sim­i­lar to a vis­it to a pe­cu­liar art gallery.

Such ap­proach makes not only the process of buy­ing more ex­cit­ing and cu­ri­ous, but sug­gests to the con­sumer – the par­tic­i­pant – to ap­pear more in­tel­lec­tu­al, unique, and (pos­si­bly also) an ex­quis­ite sup­port­er of cul­ture.

These things be­come ‘ac­ces­si­ble’ as part of the mass mar­ket.

And many re­tail­ers I’ve seen will ac­tu­al­ly rent pieces from con­tem­po­rary painters and sculp­tors, giv­ing more ex­po­sure and at­tract­ing pos­si­ble clients to the cre­ators.

Of course, each of the thou­sands of ZARA lo­ca­tions can­not af­ford orig­i­nal art for their shops, not that their au­di­ence would buy it any­way.

But youth­ful, in­te­ri­or spaces that are fun to hang out in is where things are.

In the rel­a­tive­ly small town of Plat­ja d’Aro, MAN­GO Teen has cre­at­ed this vibe full of en­er­gy, with dress­ing rooms mak­ing one feel like a part of a mod­el­ing pho­to­shoot.


 

Of course one feels pret­ti­er in their clothes in such sur­round­ings!

Per­son­al­ly, I think the prod­ucts were too bor­ing to try on, tho the ap­peal of this sur­prise pho­to-booth made me go in any­way.
 

I think it is fas­ci­nat­ing how art di­rec­tors, de­sign­ers and vi­su­al mer­chan­diz­ers are ca­pa­ble of com­ing up with bril­liant ideas that af­fect us, even if we’re not ful­ly think­ing about it.

Just ex­pe­ri­enc­ing it and hav­ing fun.

I am study­ing ideas like this as a part of graph­ic de­sign at my uni­ver­si­ty – it helps me to see such ten­den­cies, which some­times helps me avoid falling into them.

Be aware of Cap­i­tal­ism, but re­mem­ber to en­joy your time❣️
