racist perplexity

I have been faced with blind racist anger
so of­ten in my life

and when faced with such ig­no­rance
I am shocked.

I am shocked out of a state of log­ic and un­der­stand­ing
and pushed into a state of com­plete per­plex­i­ty –

won­der­ing best on­line casi­nos how,
how can this in­di­vid­ual have grown up,
what were they ex­posed to in their grow­ing years?

Why is how they’ve been raised so far dif­fer­ent from my­self –

raised to be un­der­stand­ing and cu­ri­ous about the world around –
I’ve learned and I’ve taught and I’ve learned more

And I’ve come face to face with raw pri­mal anger
from the delu­sion­al un­e­d­u­cat­ed per­son,

ob­sessed with some­thing they be­lieve to be pure re­al­i­ty.

What they’ve been taught,
hate,
hate for peo­ple who are dif­fer­ent from them.

Why are we agree­ing to this be­hav­ior?
Why are there those who do not un­der­stand suf­fer­ing?
Those who can not em­pathize?

Em­pa­thy is what keeps our species pro­gress­ing. Not hate.
