The jun­gle wak­ing up
Mystical/Magical if that does­n’t come through
 

And no, that’s not a honk­ing van
Any­one know what an­i­mal makes that sound?
 

Be­fore, there was an epic night bus rain­for­est jour­ney. Best trav­el juju.
 

I also like this pic­ture be­cause when I was 8 and in Mex­i­co for the sum­mer with my fam­i­ly, I fell in love with a bal­loon. King. Pink with black polka­dots. My sis­ter and I (for­ev­er with King) spent long hap­py evenings in the zoca­lo of Gua­na­ju­a­to, danc­ing not too far away, throw­ing new coins into a foun­tain. Kids and bal­loons and the last light of evening.
 

I have to say my fa­vorite thing about Guatemala was see­ing kids out – every­where. Play­ing in the nor­mal way we used to play. Some­times sell­ing peanuts or gad­gets. Some­times with fam­i­ly or friends. Out­side with peo­ple of all ages, past dark even. A feel­ing of com­mu­nal safe­ty and a gen­tle, pub­lic liv­ing of life. One lit­tle per­son more beau­ti­ful than the next.

I don’t even want to go out­side and not see them.
