So you missed the rev­o­lu­tion you got in­vit­ed to and that (if we’re be­ing com­plete­ly hon­est) you weren’t all that psy­ched for.

Now you get to make your own.

You know all that 60s ephemer­al gauzy hero­ic de­fi­ant coun­ter­cul­ture stuff of leg­end and ter­ri­ble Robert Ze­meck­is films? Well it turns out there are as many if not more of you kids than there were of them. And you can make a coun­ter­cul­ture and rev­o­lu­tion that’s *to­tal­ly yours* with no thoughts of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or aughts.

One that isn’t be­hold­en to old parts or con­tex­tu­al­ized with­in ac­cept­ed modes of san­i­tized sub­ver­sion. The play­ing field is wide the fuck open right now. You *can* thrust your­selves into the vac­u­um and blow it up.

Or at least I hope you can.

In the late 60s, rock mu­sic (bear with me here and don’t doze off) was a kind of in­ter­net for young peo­ple. Old peo­ple didn’t like it and it was made so rapid­ly that it be­came a com­mu­nica­tive tool for young peo­ple.

With oth­er forms of me­dia fail­ing, maybe there’s some new cul­tur­al ves­sel. And no, I’m not say­ing make repli­ca 60s rock. I mean get your head into that space and think what a new par­al­lel com­mu­nica­tive mode could be.

Doesn’t need to be mu­sic. Just some­thing cap­ti­vat­ing and cod­i­fied.
