Noth­ing shows just how full of racists, big­ots, and oth­er de­plorables the Sacra­men­to Val­ley is than read­ing the com­ments on KCRA 3 or ABC10 Face­book news posts.

The re­spons­es here that are down­right gid­dy about the BLM leader be­ing gunned down in New Or­leans this week make me sick.

It’s one of the most dif­fi­cult parts about liv­ing here for me … Be­ing sur­round­ed by this much hate and ig­no­rance.

This is not the lib­er­al mind­ed re­gion we grid dwellers wish it was.

This is also part of an on­go­ing Kim­ber­study on how red this area is. There’s a mis­con­cep­tion that Sacra­men­to is all blue and left lean­ing, and it’s re­al­ly not. Es­pe­cial­ly not as a re­gion.

The re­ac­tions and com­ments to cer­tain high pro­file sto­ries re­gard­ing race, im­mi­gra­tion, rights for mar­gin­al­ized com­mu­ni­ties, and 45 are all VERY telling. And let’s just say that the longer this regime is in place and em­pow­er­ing ass­holes, this re­gion is re­al­ly gid­dy about show­ing its true col­ors.

This is THE cen­tral rea­son for my frus­tra­tion with liv­ing here. It is such a red area of a main­ly blue state, even though we are the cap­i­tal. The down­town mid­town grid may skew more pur­ple, but com­pared to where I grew up – San Fran­cis­co Bay Area – we are full on Trump coun­try.

And it’s gross.
