norcal flomm brewing tips with jim

A bunch of years ago, friend and font de­sign­er Jim Was­co showed up for a small de­sign­er thing I went to. At a park. With trees, grass, and food and let­ter­ing artists and the sort.

Jim hand­ed me a plas­tic cup and said, Hey, I made a lit­tle batch of beer – then wan­dered off.

I sort of took the cup and con­tin­ued my con­ver­sa­tion with an­oth­er, sort of that state of 5 things hap­pen­ing at the same time.

I sipped the beer and re­al­ized im­me­di­ate­ly that Jim didn’t just brew up a lit­tle batch. He craft­ed quite a mouth­ful. And as I start­ed dig­ging, found he’d been cre­at­ing award win­ning brews in his spare time.

We even­tu­al­ly col­lab­o­rat­ed on some flomm brews (he did his thing, I made la­bels) for an­oth­er gath­er­ing.

Annnnnd next month Jim will be shar­ing his brew­ing tips at an­oth­er small gath­er­ing at the Mill­brae Li­brary – Tues­day 30 May 2017 – just across from SFO. San Fran­cis­co Bay Area.
