There’s a rea­son elec­tions held in el­e­men­tary school and mid­dle school are so hu­mor­ous.

Kids are ei­ther know­ing­ly or un­know­ing­ly mock­ing the ridicu­lous­ness of a few peo­ple pre­tend­ing they’re bet­ter than the oth­ers and pre­tend­ing they will do the more ap­peal­ing things.

I re­mem­ber a kid run­ning for cana­di­an on­line gam­bling trea­sur­er who promised more soda ma­chines. He was a liar. They’re all liars. And the sim­ple-mind­ed are too eas­i­ly per­suad­ed.

Be­yond, at the na­tion­al lev­el, the bet­ter ques­tion no one is ask­ing, Why do we need to elect a pres­i­dent to fix our “prob­lems” in the first place — ?

Why do we have two peo­ple at odds with one an­oth­er at all? Why is there ever a fight be­tween two peo­ple to take the role and why do we let the pageantry con­tin­ue?

The ma­jor­i­ty of this cam­paign is lies and “what­ev­er sounds best” to fix per­pet­u­at­ing prob­lems like
in­equal­i­ty  (just treat peo­ple equal­ly) –
wage gaps  (if you’re in charge of that at a com­pa­ny, change it) –
health­care  (pro­vide it, cheap­ly if not freely) –

               fig­ure it out.
 

Why do we have to pick a can­di­date who says they will do these things when it’s not in their pow­er in the first place nor will it ever be?

These are prob­lems a pres­i­dent ei­ther can’t fix or shouldn’t have to. There is so much “cor­rup­tion” in busi­ness and gov­ern­ment that we ig­nore, be­cause we think it doesn’t af­fect us?? And then once every 4–8 years we do this stu­pid shit all over again?!

Be­ing The Pres­i­dent –
the only re­quire­ment for it is to be “the best” at per­sua­sion –
we’re all the same species and some of us un­der­stand how flawed the sys­tem is, by ob­serv­ing it –
not be­ing okay with it –
and sug­gest­ing al­ter­na­tives –
that get shot down with words –
usu­al­ly with­out be­ing at­tempt­ed.
