What I find par­tic­u­lar­ly in­ter­est­ing about Sean Spicer’s Hitler com­ments is un­der­neath what seems like ig­no­rance or an­oth­er id­i­ot­ic gaffe, lies this ad­min­is­tra­tion’s larg­er eth­nona­tion­al­ist be­liefs (root­ed in White Su­prema­cy).

Though many of the Jews (and oth­ers) gassed in the Holo­caust were Ger­man cit­i­zens, Spicer con­sid­ers them as sep­a­rate from Hitler’s “own peo­ple.”

Much like
this ad­min­is­tra­tion does not con­sid­er
Mus­lims, Im­mi­grants, POC, and oth­er iden­ti­ty groups
“real Amer­i­cans.”

In­stead,
they are treat­ed as an in­va­sive,
threat­en­ing oth­er,
in a sim­i­lar sense to how the Nazis con­sid­ered Ger­man Jews.

So these re­marks are not even re­mote­ly sur­pris­ing­ly giv­en the larg­er ide­ol­o­gy of these in­di­vid­u­als.
